the luckiest game you played Hi I wanted to start this post as a rant against the rolling system of that game and even worse against some sort of cheating some people could abuse seen the incredible rolls some could have. But, as luck is part of that game and I am confident that developers made sure no cheating could be possible, just look at one of most incredible game I lost seen the unbelievable rolls he made to get out of there, as the only chance he could have to win was to make double six in a row, what he did . Look also at all the doubles he did along the game, and particularly the last 3 doubles six at the end , enjoy (he plays white): 1. 53 17/22, 19/22 52 13/8, 13/11 2. 43 12/19 22 6/4(2), 13/11, 8/6 3. 34 12/15, 12/16 44 24/16*(2) 4. 66 (no play) 53 8/3, 6/3 5. 55 bar/15, 17/22 35 16/13, 16/11 6. 41 1/5, 17/18 13 6/5*, 8/5 7. 25 bar/2, 18/23 31 13/10, 11/10 8. 34 19/22, 19/23 11 10/8, 11/10(2) 9. 16 1/2, 15/21 51 10/4 10. 21 19/21, 22/23 61 10/3 11. 66 12/24, 12/18, 15/21 21 13/10 12. 14 23/24, 18/22 51 13/8, 4/3 13. 41 19/23, 22/23 32 8/5, 10/8 14. 43 19/23, 21/24 23 3/1, 8/5 15. 24 22/24 55 10/off, 8/3(2) 16. 61 2/9 21 3/off 17. 46 9/19 36 6/3, 6/off 18. 66 2/20, 19/off 21 3/off 19. 66 20/off, 21/off(2), 22/off 42 4/off, 5/3 20. 66 22/off, 23/off(3) 26 3/1, 5/off 21. 33 23/off(2), 24/off(2) 44 4/off, 5/1(2), 3/off |

Re: the luckiest game you played Yes, such a frustrating loss! And it's equally frustrating when it seems like one has not received doubles for any of the games one has recently lost, or when it seems like doubles only occur when one is on the bar and they can't be used. Let me assure you that the code to determine the dice is correct. They are generated using a server-based random number generator using a hardware issued seed number, so they are guaranteed to be random and cannot be altered or influenced by any user actions in any way. Statistically, a chance to roll any doubles is 1 in 36. Accordingly, the probability to roll 2 double 6s in a row is 1 in 36*36 and 3 double 6s in a row is 1 in 36*36*36. Since on average a backgammon game takes 39 rolls of the dice to complete, it will happen approximately in 1 of every 1,196 games. So it is not that uncommon of an occurrence, and far more likely than winning a lottery. Therefore, at some point you might receive such fortunate rolls in a game! |

Ouch! I had a game like that, although I won http://zooescape.com/backgammon.pl?v=200&gid=2575 I was absolutely sure I was going to lose (look at turn #37 - my opponent had 7 chips off the board and I still had to make my way back to the home quad). But then my luck turned and in such a spectacular way. I'm sure it was super frustrating for my opponent to lose the game like that. But such is life - I've lost games I was sure to win quite a few times, I just didn't save links to them... Just like you said, I'm sure developers of this site made absolutely sure that there is no way to cheat by changing the dice rolls. Also goes to show that it only makes sense to resign a game when your opponent has a single chip remaining to bear off. |

ouch too Thanks for the statistics . I thought it was worse than that, but come on, 1/1196, he must play loto today Yea bking, nice game too (btw didnt know I could link a past game, nice feat). As you said, never resign in backgammon, anything can happen until no more chip remain on board |

Yeah, math is funky that way... I just saved the link right after I won because I couldn't believe it! I don't think you can get to your completed games otherwise (yet?). |

impressed with rolls Hey all, I was thinking the other day how impressed I was about how the dice rolls turn out. I've been playing board backgammon for over twenty years and have found it very similar to rolling the real thing... and I've seen all kinds of ... games... : ) I wanted to congratulate zooescape for managing this so well and was going to put this 'thanks' in a separate post but spotted this conversation... At the same time I don't want to undermine anyone's experience with the dice rolls but thought I'd share my own experiences. D |

My unlucky opponent Well, I can't say I was very lucky in this game. Actually my opponent played carelessly at some point and left so many people naked (this is my trade mark way of explanation) on the way. At one point he had 5 chips on the bar! http://zooescape.com/backgammon.pl?v=200&gid=41819 |

great game Artin76 haha! I had a look through the game...it seemed pretty 'average' at first...couldn't see how your opponent was going to end up with 5 on the bar...lol...interesting moves near the end and you certainly got the lucky numbers! |
