CT #1 Round 3 (semi-finals)

Here's a drawing for the semi-final stage:

Pair 1: servechilled (1802) - blokhin2 (1775)
Pair 2: r4zzm4t4zz (1797) - sideshowbob2012 (1780)

As usual, it's best-of-3 matches.
The winners of these matches will play for the 1st place, the losers - for the 3rd.

Good luck to all!

IF WE CONTINUE-- and I hope we do

I would like to volunteer to host a tourney...

If I ran one -- my desire would be 9 point matches (with the cube in play) one game at a time - single elimination with an 11 point final match ( 5 point match for the consolation 3rd and fourth place)

this is a format I play in every week and it is enjoyable ---

feedback please this could easily be done..( i think) especially if we keep the play on the quick side like i have seen demonstrated in this first tourney

IF WE CONTINUE-- and I hope we do

I'm against using the cube, I think it brings even more chance into play. But I'll play whatever format the majority chooses.

r4zzm4t4zz's tourney

I like the idea of trying different tournaments. I'm keen to participate in this and any other event. I like the cube.

strategy or luck

http://www.bkgm.com/articles/Simborg/DoublingCubeMadeSimple/

I think strongly that the cube does not make more luck but brings more strategy- the higher the number of games necessary to win - takes out the luck factor- in other words the chances of winning one game by luck is pretty high but the chances of winning a 11 point match by luck is much less-- and a match of 21 is even less of a luck factor

the cube is a very important part of the game-

in my humble opinion.....

but then again this could be another topic in the forum area so maybe I should take it there..

if there is enough interest on the subject ie

New Tournaments

Firstly, a big thank you to blokhin2 for running this tournament. Well done.

I think it is a good idea to try new formats. I like r4zzm4t4zz's suggestion - I also liked SSB's suggestions of a ladder and a final top 4 knock-out stage.

I like playing with the cube but irrespective of what format is chosen and irrespective of whether we chose to use the cube or not - I AM IN!!!

more players

I think there will be more than 16 players wanting in the next tournament. Maybe go with 32 players or 2-3 (8) players group with the 2 winners playing in the final or if there are say 22 players the top rated 6 get a first round bye
i to favor the cube with 11 points. more points less luck involed.
