With the playoffs beckoning and some teams already having completed their games, we need to wind the group stage down.

I don't mind games that take a little longer to complete but some here have not even started games, a week or more after I sent out my instructions. Nor was there any feedback to me saying that their opponents declined.

I have sent out instructions once more to the players that have not started these nine (9) games.

Should I fail to get feedback, in what I deem to be reasonable time, these games shall be forfeited against the player that I deem is at fault.

There are 64 players here and it isn't right that a couple should keep everyone waiting.

That's all.

Dear Yianni, can you tell us which are the games with problems and the players that do not move?
This style is very annoying and in the future I think you need to take action and change the rules.

I think most people will agree that this tournament is successful. We have had 16 teams join with several new countries among them. In general, play has moved quickly - especially compared to the first Nations tourney.

In the future we will have a red list of players who have quit either tournament and a yellow list of those who repeatedly failed to respond to pms from me or their captain or have been reluctant to challenge players with an inferior rating.

Those on the red list will not be allowed to compete, those on the yellow list we will keep an eye on to make sure they don't misbehave in the future.

And anyone who doesn't challenge within three days of instructions, better have a good explanation!

OK, we now have the eight teams that have qualified for the playoffs.
They are:

Group A
1. Iran
2. Germany

Group B
CIS and USA3 although the order is not yet known

Group C
1. Netherlands
2. UK1

Group D
1. Romania
2. USA4

The next round will be a knockout round.
The top four teams of the four groups will be drawn randomly against the four second-place teams.
The winners of those four matches will then be paired up in the semi-finals.
The winners of the semi-finals will play in the final game.
If the two losing teams of the semi-finals agree, we will hold a small final to determine 3rd and 4th place.

E.g.
Quarterfinals--------------Semifinals----------------------------------------------FINAL
Match 1: A1-B2
Match 2: B1-C2............Semi 1: Match 1 winners- Match 2 winners
...........................................................................................................Semi 1 - Semi 2 winners
Match 3: C1-D2............Semi 2: Match 3 winners-Match 4 winners

Please note: there will not be a semi-final draw: the winners of the top two quarterfinals play each other; the winners of the bottom two quarterfinals play each other
