CLARIFICATION

lordonny forfeited his game before 1 day of deadline yet i asked him to finish his games,(through msg and forum)i did not receive any response from him after the deadline so when a player himself forfeits, host has no other way of doing something else...

I will REQUEST some1 else to take host duties in next tourney as these hard decision are driving me on wrong directions...I does not get any support from other players and I don't want to make my friends angry with me, so its tough seat.

My ideas will be always here,it will be host's choice to accept them or not.

NEW IDEA:

As Ahmed Arslan suggested that we should gather more players and we are already discarding recommendations..and there is a fact that most of the players don't know about our un-official tourney.
So i will suggest that in next tourney all participating players should inform few other players through msg or commenting in their active games.
or every player should bring 1 NEW player in the tourney to confirm his place.

Hello Ahmed,

I do think you are just doing good in what you are doing. Please keep it going as you have done in the past. No one will be angry with any of your decisions, someone has do to them and you do them always in the right way. we could let also 2 or 3 persons decide, what to do with players that do not move on. the idea is to get these tournaments moving on fast and any player can normally finish there games in one week without problems. many of us do that even in one day. So in the future we should look for more players. see how does play fast and who not. only who does play fast can continue playing these tournaments, the others are out. really very simple and without any hard feelings.

I agree with ahmedarslan

I agree with ahmedarslan comments OR form a board 3 members OR 5 members where the votes are casted therefore "not one person" making the rules.

However rules are rules... BUT if clearly one player is slow then the slow player would forfeit their games other player moves on. Especially if player has sent notice that there is a slow player should not be penalized.

As with all the non ZE tournaments typically taken a few tournaments to streamline the rules matter of all players working in good faith smooth out the wrinkles for future tournaments.

I do believe many players are enjoying new format you created.... BRAVO well done.

I agree too

Yes I find this format very attractive too ! And the matching website on Binary Beast is clear and helpful.
Although I was knocked-out in the first round by guthers (the great ? - I believe he is really doing great so far ), I would love to join again.
I tried to attract new participants, but they hesitated for various reasons.
May be next time, we should send a direct mail (copy / paste) to the 100 top rated players, and see what's happening. I'm happy to help, however, I am really not experienced enough to host and to make comments on a tournament.

As far as decision making is concerned and excluding participants who do not react or can not keep up with the pace for whatever reason, I believe it is only fair towards the other participants who do their best to stick to the previously known rules. Something unexpected can always happen, but at least communicate why you cannot continue with a match. Communication is absolutely a matter of courtesy.

Ahmed you are really doing a fabulous job ! You are very generous with your time and energy to enable this tournament for all of us. Many thanks indeed !

Hooray for Ahmed !

I do agree also with all of you. Ahmed you are doing a great job and no one likes you less when you do have to decide that someone is loosing because he was playing to slow.

Everyone who does participate in theses tournaments should be fair and resign in case that he can not play as much as he or she was thinking before.

when you do know that you Will not have enough time to finish the tournament within one month, please do not participate.

These tournaments got born, because there are always players in the ZE tournaments that does take almost forever to finish there games, so just keep these players out and enjoy nice quick games with the best players on this site.

we should try to get in the next tournament at least 64 players, which should be all players out of the top 150. Not everyone will play, so we can not limit the players to the top 100.

or we could accept only players that reached at least ones 1.850 points.

so in the end I do think we should have 2 or 3 player that does help Ahmed with everything including the decision making. We should get also to the point were the rules all always the some for the tournaments.

this second tournament works more or less fine so far, so the format is good. I would vote that we just also count gammons and backgammons and for that we can play for one or 2 points more.

again, thank you very much Ahmed for the effort that you are putting in these tournaments.

You are the man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What to do?

Ahmed,
1. Stay and do what you enjoy doing... Organizing and running these games.
2. 99% of us are OK with you, or any tournament organizer, making all decisions.
3. If you struggle with some of the discipline decisions, appoint another player to make those, and all will accept. Don't think we need a committee to enforce rules.
4. Most of us like the fast play format, and just want the competition to move along quickly.
5. All players in this fast play format must take the responsibility themselves to communicate with their opponent. If they have personal, business or other issues, they need to let opponent know and either resign from the tournament, or make arrangements to still complete in time limit, resign, or be withdrawn from that tournament. Some circumstances may permit them to enter the next one on probation.
6. And most of us want to...Just Play, Baby!

Great job!

I appreciate the time you have spent on this, and have enjoyed participating. As OldMan said, I think 99% of us are very happy with what you have put together. Since these have been the first tournaments of this type, there are bound to be a few bumps in the road, but I think you've done a fabulous job, and thank you.

Perfect job

What else can be said to thank you for all the time you spend for organizing these tournaments. As already said, 99% of us are happy with the job, so please continue to entertain us and allow us to participate to these great tournaments

Thank u all

Thank u all for ur support... I was feeling embarrassment that I am doing wrong decision..
All i wanted is to accommodate maximum players and give max relaxation to players who have GENUINE reason of being late, anyhow lets put this behind us.
your support means a lot to me...

I believe if we all follow rules/deadlines and when we are on fault then step ahead and accept the consequences rather than waiting for host to implement anything, then there will be no ISSUE..We should hv sportsman spirit,we all are adults and are here to enjoy the games...WINNING does not matter to me, I always enjoy PLAYING and playing FAST.
Anyhow lets STOP this and get back to business.

@gammon & Bg scores
I decided to discard them as i thought few players might hold a game in simultaneous games to get gammon in their any other game,so it will be bad.
NEW IDEA.. We can include cube, gammon & bg in scores..
if we count the scores of games started in order.
before start every player should mention in comments game 1,game 2 ,game 3

1st score preference will be given to game 1 then game 2..if a player REACHES the victory margin in Game 2 then all games started after game2 will be just friendly encounters..

@new tourney

if we plan to get 64 players then we should start REGISTRATION right now, it will give us a few extra days to get maximum players.

My personally thinkings are getting TOP ranked players is tough job as most of them do mind their RANKINGS  ,so they don't prefer such games

anyhow there is no harm in trying. My suggestion is to grab FAST players, I am already doing this for the next tourney, as playing in a small group of ZE we all know who is more active player here.

I am going to start registration process in next post as it will become on the top of the page.
