All Players please review the Dead Cube and Crawford Rules... ...I experienced 2 violations of the Dead Cube Rule today. Please encourage your opponents to review both the Crawford Rule and the Dead Cube Rule. |

some new players are not aware of RULES yet I suggest whenever ur opponent reaches on 4 points u should write down in comments that CUBE is DEAD for him. |

Not sure I agree Except when the opponent mistakenly starts a cube game when it should have been the Crawford game, I think it is up to the player to realise it is pointless to turn the cube when you are at match point. Isn't it just common sense? All you are doing is handing points to the opponent. Apart from in the Crawford game the dead cube rule seems superfluous. |

I can understand a player making a mistake with the rules in their first T... ...and have happily forgiven mistakes with both the Dead Cube and Crawford Rules in CT 5 as well as previous CTs. However, it should be each player's responsibility to read and follow ALL of the Rules. The bottom line for me is, if we are never going to enforce these 2 rules let's either acknowledge that they are merely Suggestions or abandon them altogether. Having said that, I think chwaq's suggestion is a good one and I use it myself. Unfortunately, it doesn't always alleviate the problem. |

But... ...the Crawford rule is actually a rule, you cannot use the cube in the Crawford game. Even if a game is started with the cube and it is used by one of the players, this should only count as one point, so long as at least the opponent is aware of what has happened. If neither player notices there is not much anybody can do. The dead cube rule is more a case of players understanding that there is no point in doubling if your score plus the current cube value gives you enough points to win the match. For a start the opponent isn't going to pass as this immediately means you win the match, and then they will recube straight away as no amount of excess points is going to make any difference. Free points. It is quite tricky playing matches on this site, although I did notice that the 'management' had it in mind to introduce that functionality. |
