if my maths arent failing me.. other than those in the top 8 now.. only abefromann and padajp can unseat me or stewie.. and we still both have a chance to actually tie at 13-9.. same as itisme...

if me and stewie both win our last matches we got a 3way tie between 6-7-8 and then only patajp can get in that 3 way tie..

max possible wins from this point out :

itisme 14 or 13
stewie 13 or 12
dapharmer 13 or 12
abefromann 10-12
patajp max of 14 ... would have to win every single remaining game (including against abe and stewie for that to happen)

long story short, if abe and pat end up losing 1 more each the top 8 is locked though the order still up for grabs... any other way can result in a multiway tie for 7-8th spots..

anyone that didnt make it into the top 8 just want to say i hope you all enjoyed you tourney as much as I enjoyed playing against you guys.. and I hope not landing in the top doesn't drive anyone to stall on a game (but we're all adults here so im sure that wont happen   ).

either way good luck everyone still in the running.. hopefully we'll have the final round 1 rankings by the end of the weekend

progress results

As things have slowed now that most games are finished could we have a progress score from any of the remaining games. Also please check that any remaining matches have a game currently being played.

Finals Format: For any ties in 8th place I plan to play it as a top 16 with the top ranked players getting a bye. This seems the fairest to me and will not take very long. Round of 16 1st to 5. Rest as per results site..

For the record

Dapharmer it would seem as though your Maths is failing you.

You are actually not able to win your last match against AJ1968.

In actual fact you lost that match in game 2.

In game 2 you lost by a backgammon with the cube on 2 - a total of 6 points.

The match should have been over at that point.

Not really sure why you guys are still playing - maybe its just for the love of the game

i think you must be looking at game wrong:

game 1 aj won 1 pt when i rejected cube 1-0
http://zooescape.com/backgammon.pl?v=200&gid=1451076&p1=dapharmer&p2=aj1968

game 2 he won 2 pts when i rejected cube 3 - 0
http://zooescape.com/backgammon.pl?v=200&gid=1458776&p1=dapharmer&p2=aj1968

game 3 i won 2 points 3-2
http://zooescape.com/backgammon.pl?v=200&gid=1462779&p1=dapharmer&p2=aj1968

game 4 he won 1 pt 4-2
http://zooescape.com/backgammon.pl?v=200&gid=1466253&p1=dapharmer&p2=aj1968

game 5 i won 1 pt : 4-3

http://zooescape.com/backgammon.pl?v=200&gid=1486390&p1=dapharmer&p2=aj1968

score right now is 4-3 .. still have a chance to win...

game 2 wasnt a backgammon it was a cube rejection... only 2 pts not 6

My apologies

You are correct - my mistake.

Please accept my apologies.

not a problem... my maths are hard to discredit   .. i gotta handle millions of $'s in transactional data a day so keeping track of things like tourney points is like vacation time for me

thays why i actually play backgammon so much in between everything else i do at work.... even if i couldnt tell you the exact percentage chance of every roll of the top of my head, I actually have a nice visual map of all of the probabilities of any possible dice roll to move ratio .. id say i usually can guess within 5-10% accuracy what the next roll.move will be in any game i play.. what little help that is to actually winning   .

you can ask nightking.. in a ladder match we were playing yesterday got stuck making a move i knew would end with him reversing my lead on him and leaving me in the lurch.. said so in a comment and it played out exactly as expected the next turn..... probably should have lost but luck threw me a double 6 right after and i turned around and nailed the win..

is it sad i find it refreshing to plot probabilities in my head instead of the normal tangle of code i need to deal with? or am i in like company here   ... i already know at least 3 of our tourney members are financial analysts so i know theres gotta be some number crunchers out there
