Acey-Deucey Ladder games

I think it would be great if you counted gammons and backgammons in Acey-Deucey games. A gammon would move you up or down the ladder by 2 steps and backgammon would be plus or minus 3 steps. You just add a plus 1 or 2 to the current calculation for where you should be on the ladder.

thanks, Kris (OldLady)

Tournaments

It won't allow me to enter a new tournament even when I've finished all matches in the last one, even if I'm definitely knocked out. This means I have to wait for the slowest players to finish, even when they're also playing "dead rubbers". Perhaps this could be looked at.

Are you still updating the site?

Slow play in tournaments

Stop allowing vacation mode in the middle of a tournament. Remove the player and reduce the games to normal status.

Make tournament games 2 days per move to try to speed them up. In the acey-deucy one I'm playing in there's are games with 39 moves in 54 days, and no sign of finishing soon. It just takes all the enjoyment out of it with these selfish players. I don't even know why they bother at all.

Doubling

I have one question:
In all three ladders, can members double?

Doubling in Ladders

I have played hundreds of games in all three ladders but have never come across any doubling.

Does this mean that doubling is only possible between members? Also in ladders?

Is there a possibility to see who is a member?

Thanks for a good Backgammon gaming site.

Doubling

Only members can initiate a game with the doubling cube and the cube is not used in the ladders. You can se who is a paid member by the paw next to their name.

I hope this helps!

Slow Play in Tournaments @guthers

I disagree with your desire / suggestion to do away with vacation mode in the ZE tournaments. It's there for a reason whether it be for emergencies, vacations or just someone wanting / needing to take a break. Sometimes it can't be helped, sometimes it can.

Players are limited to only 30 days maximum and will be disqualified if they postpone again during the same round. That's a bite if you do have back-to-back reasons to pause. The 3-Day rule for moves is just fine - you can challenge other like-minded players if you need the speed... it just won't count for ladders or trophies.

Enjoy the leisure pace of the games, there are many other games you could be playing at the same time while you wait. If you want a faster tournament there's the Backgammon Blitz League, which is even faster now with improved scoring.

Cheers

@Howler

Who the hell needs to take a 30 day vacation or break? Surely backgammon is one of the things we do to relax anyway. Unless you're on a remote mountain top with no internet access moves can be made inside a day or two.

And of course, in an emergency the first thing I think of is to put my zooescape games on a 7+ day pause. NOT! Whoever heard of such a ridiculous idea? What emergency lasts for several days and during which you think these games are so important as to keep them on ice. There are people playing in war zones with hardly any delays for christ's sake.

No. If you enter tournaments involving dozens of other players it's just basic courtesy not to keep everyone waiting for you.

Emteeu is one of the worst offenders. This game could move on in hours, but they don't have forced moves, so it's likely to be weeks. Just selfish.
