I'd like to try but may need instructions on how it works. I want to hold your hand.

Signups update

Welcome to everyone who signed up so far! As of right now, we already got 14 of originally planned 16 seats filled just in the first 24 hours... Only two seats are still vacant!

The proposals for the rules and code of conduct will be published later this weekend on the new BBL website for everyone’s input before August 1st deadline. We would probably want to try keeping the rules as simple as possible for the first tournament as we are testing the waters here and don’t want to overcomplicate things.

Next update - tomorrow!

@ BBL - 1 Tournament Rules

I read the rules... and not full agree with [7.Dropping the Tournament]

".... and all their games will be not counted in the table of results."
* for completed games
This rule damages the players who have already won - they have already 1 point...
and will lose it not by their fault.

** for uncompleted games
I think that in case of refusal to play, the other player officially wins + 1 point.

[6. Tiebreakers]
Sheet "Results" - there must be a mark if the game finished by a gammon(backgammon) - no confusing in tiebreaker case

@ BBL - 1 Tournament Rules

Yes, you are correct, that is detrimental to players who already won against that opponent, but there's no good option here. Making it 'win by default' for players who did not yet played with that specific opponent is also not fair to people who already won (and especially lost) to him. '+1 point' you are proposing is even less fair to other players in my mind.
Maybe we should add 1/2 point to participants who haven't started the game against the player who's dropped off...

I agree there should be a counter for gammon/backgammon wins/losses

Signups and Website Update

First of all, another welcome to everyone who expressed the interest in playing in our first Backgammon Blitz League tournament! We now have 18 instead of originally planned 16 players in! We expanded the table of results to 18 but I think, in interests of keeping this tournament fast, we should stop there and anyone else signing up after today will be put on a waiting list and/or into a subsequent tournament.

Our new website, https://tinyurl.com/ze-bbl (add it to your browser bookmarks!) has been updated with the sections for Code of Conduct and BBL-1 Tournament Rules (see Rules page)

Since our first set of players is determined (you can see the full list of participants on the Results page of the website website), let’s use this week to debate the rules and code of conduct on this forum. If you don’t have any proposals for changes to the rules/code of conduct and fully accept them, please post your final confirmation before the games begin on August 1st.

@Esprit -
#7 is surely a bit controversial rule as it has been matched the current official ZE tournament rules. Like Blokhin2 just said, it is tough to find the best way to deal with the situation like this (I do sincerely believe we should not have it happen as everyone is eager to play fast). So let’s everyone weight in on this, please.
Refusal to play resulting an automatic point for the opponent - an interesting addition, what will everyone else say?
Also, I really liked the idea of indicating wins/losses by a gammon in the results table for easier calculation of tiebreakers, so I added it in! Thank you for these suggestions, keep ‘em coming!
