… Dapharmer, you are right - that's how they do it in the chess tournaments - if someone withdraws, everybody gets the win against this person in all unfinished games. When it happens at the beginning of the tournament - no problem, no one is really affected. But I've been burned many times when a strong player to whom I'd lose or had a tie with would later withdraw and all the slow players would get a "no-show" completely undeserved win against such a player. In either case someone would be positively or negatively affected but this is more about the fairness - "no-show" win rule benefits only the slow players and since we have a say here it would be nice to establish a more fair (IMHO) rule of completely excluding all the results. Let the majority rule on this one. |

… not to post bomb but here's some examples of the unfairness it would cause to remove them : just looking at current top 8 : zulu : no shift in position.. won 1 lost 1 servechilled : no shift in position.. won 1 lost 1 lil warrior :no shift in position.. won 1 lost 1 abriscoe: position shift up.. lost both games dapharmer: no shift in position.. won 1 lost 1 uaskr: position shift down.. won both games parimer: position shift down.. won both games itisme: position shift up.. lost both games a few more down.. oldman.. no shift.. kumara.. no shift.. blohkin.. shift up.. steelerhead.. shift down.. stewie.. shift down... i really dont have much more to add past that and i still think we have time to get a general consensus before we act. but i want to at least make sure everyone is aware that there is an impact either way... if you feel one is justified more then the other we're all entitled to that opinion. but debate on it is healthy if we want to have these things again since i have no doubt this situation will occur again.. you always have at least 1-2 people resign from something like this either due to lack of time or interest. |

Objective Minds Even at the ripe old age of 48, it may be possible to learn a thing or two, so Dapharmer I give you credit for opening my eyes to one part of your position, and that is to keep R4zz's results only because he did finish all of his games with all of us. That gave all of us an equal shot at beating him. That's all I am saying, keep things even and equal. Plus it leaves the door open for him to come back if he should qualify and does desire to do so. So I am ok with that. Where you lose me is someone that doesn't complete all their games like Sideshow. In that case throw out all of the results for him or her whichever may be the case in the future as not everyone had an equal shot at him (some had a guaranteed win just because they were the last ones in the barn door). and now back to the ladder I am bored with... Love the tournament format with the cube involved. Democracy rules and no bad vibes here.. |
