Result Down to the wire, abriscoe 6-2 over Peter Hill. 1 double would have changed the result! |

Peter Hill statement agree I posted approx. week ago similar comment agree... if anyone resigns OR etc.... ANY and all matches are removed who they won/lost . IF results are where we determine the top 8 players have secured rounds BASED on stat's no other player win/loss would put them in top 8 advance the tournament to the 2nd round . SOLUTION for players 9th - 25th : 1. They continue to play secure their placement 2. Possibly have other 17 players have their own spin off tournament 3. Have that winner of spin off tournament play winner of the top 8 4. Therefore 9th - 25th players incentive finish the tournament still have rankings in spin off. Of course opinions from all players are important while we "tweek" the rules for future play here on Zooescape. |

OOOPS changed my mind - agree with Uahskr I just read I agree... with any sporting event if there a forfeit / resignation it is considered automatic win.... I LIKE this ! ****** R4ZZ did a great job***** like many don't know the history ... sorry read about no longer involved... JOB well done ... Bravo.. ! Per Uahskr comment below I cut and pasted " Resigning games ......Agree with dapharmer. The games that have been played are already a matter of record and should count. And the games not yet played by a resigning player are technically forfeited and should be counted as wins for the players who have yet to play persons who resign. That seems fair and I think most sporting events would follow that model. I also hope R4 has a change of heart. "..... |

why all results of withdrawn players should be removed Another argument against keeping the results of withdrawn players and awarding wins to the remaining players - for the most part this would benefit slow players, the ones who keep the whole group waiting. If you drag your feet long enough you could score a couple of undeserved wins which would make it completely unfair to the faster players who already finished playing against now-withdrawn players. |

KumaraKid/Servechilled/Achilles/PeterHill/Blokhin/Abriscoe et al. All of these people are thinking rationally, fairly, and with clarity. Can someone explain to us how withdrawing all of the games of people that quit is an unfair scenario? How is that unfair to anyone??? Everyone plays the same people with the same number of games. Everything is even, if you aren't in the playoffs, it is your fault because you didn't win enough games How logical is it for one person to have to play one of the "2" quitters with a 50/50 chance of a win, yet another person doesn't have to play one of the "2" yet is guaranteed a 100% chance of a win. That doesn't make any sense at all. No one "wins" a game as a forfeit because someone couldn't let go of his issues and the other one (despite his incredible work on our behalf) didn't have thick enough skin to realize that he might be hurting the other 23 people by up and quitting. I like R4 and hope he comes back, but he shouldn't taken his ball and glove and left us. If anyone is questioning my motives with this issue, there are none, because I have 15 victories in the books and none of them were against anyone that quit. Not bragging, just that I am not saying this to help myself make the playoffs. If 15 isn't good enough to move on, I can deal with it. I do have a problem with someone getting a win in the books without even having to earn it in a match like most of the rest of us had to do (or at least try to do). |

… thing is.. leaving r4zz's benefits noone because he finished all of his games... and while he hasnt responded yet, if by chance he were to still place in the tourney i would hate to see that chance missed after the work he put into it. as for sideshow.. he had 6 unfinished games... 18 finished games.. and at least half the people with unfinished games with him have finished at least half their games... just seems like less impact to keep than to remove to me.. removing you may drop someone out of top 8 that legitimately won a match with r4zz or sideshow..or both. or put someone in who lost a match to either... it changes the dynamics to a much further extent then giving 6 of 25 people 1 win.... impacting 6 people vs potentially all remaining 22 |

… and if your gonna bring up earning the win as a reason.. those who did win against either of them earned those wins... by that logic they deserve to be counted as much as the other ones wouldnt... im not trying to be argumentative here, but you wanted a rational reason.... any chess tournament you would play anywhere.. if you resign your opponent gets the win.. its just how tourneys go.. you all signed up... a resign is a loss.. and the other gets a win... if before they resigned from the tourney they resigned directly in the games they were playing, theyd give wins on record to all those players... how is it not the same now? |
