Looking for a team

I would like to become involved for the first time.
I am Australian and would like to be in an Aussie team. I was born in the Netherlands so a spot in a Dutch team could be a possibility as a back up.
Does anyone know who I should contact for one of these teams?

@Looking for a team

Hello gem001,

Last year we had for the first time a combined Dutch and Australian team. As it is not clear yet, who will show up this year, so far there are 2 Dutch players and 1 Australian player, With you we could form a team already.
Out of courtesy, and because I know that quite a few things are going on, I just would like to wait a bit to see, whether some of the old players show up unexpectedly like last year.

May be we will have two teams this year: An Australian and a Dutch team, may be we will have a combined team.
I would like to thank you for showing up and we will sort out something so that you can participate at the NT9

Welcome to the tournament

Proposition

I'd like to share an ...let's call it unpopular idea.

I think it would be beneficial if we cut the size of each team to 3 players.

I know it will be hard to reshuffle teams that have been playing together for long time, but straight away it gives us shorter rounds (9 games instead of 16) and eliminates the possibility of tiebreakers in the elimination rounds.

Hello Xapko87,

Very interesting thought - really !!!
Leoton is also working on a great plan & I think it is wonderful that you are so engaged.

The great thinker Einstein once said: “If I had an hour to solve a problem I'd spend 55 minutes thinking about the problem and five minutes thinking about solutions.” Einstein believed the quality of the solution you generate is in direct proportion to your ability to identify the problem you hope to solve.

So let's collect all suggestions and let everybody who has an idea or suggestion, share it with the rest

A completely different proposal!

Dear friends, I wanted to propose a completely different approach that, in my view, will save us time and let every participant play the same number of games.
I would like you to check out the 16 team round robin approach where each team will have designated Players 1-4 and each Player 1 will play with 15 other Player 1s from other teams, each Player 2 will play will other 15 Player 2s, same for Players 3 and 4. The individual results will be combined into the team score for each round and the team with the most points wins the tournament. No elimination rounds needed. This will also calculate the individual results too.
Benefits:
- each participant is guaranteed an equal number of games (15 in case of 16 team tournament)
- no random seeding, everyone plays their counterparts from each other team
- games can start simultaneously so no waiting required for the next round, making the whole tournament run much much faster.

I created an online template based on the list of last year teams/participants. We can easily change the teams and players for NT9 and everything will be automatically updated.
Here is the link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1W21lRF-H3ul6SsSKDNbwUkVgKk8GEnSbeFKg1Fk5SGU/edit?usp=sharing

Please let me know what you think.

@A completely different proposal !

Dear friends,

I find Leotons proposal very democratic, modern and smart
Although, I have to admit, I did like the hierarchic structure too and I am emotionally attached to play quarter, semi- and finals. I love the excitement that goes with it
Unfortunately, however, we were not able to make the traditional structure work. And over the years, every tournament took longer and some players, like me, got rather frustrated and fed up. So I endorse a completely different approach.
