Tournaments

Dear All,

their are some few players that are holding up all tournaments. So in the end 100 or more player have to wait for just one player. I do not think that is good or even fair. I do think these players should get banned from all future tournaments or they should be applied some rules that everybody has to move within one day and holidays should not be permitted for someone who is playing a tournament. I would like to have banned Cuisineworks, who is holding up several tournaments. We should implement a rule that when a person is getting mentioned 5 or more he getting automatically banned from all tournaments for 3 to 6 month. It can not be that just one player is setting the pace for 100 or more players. That is just not fair.

We face this problem in official ZR tourneys thats why NEED of un-official tourneys arise, where players make their own rules and try to follow them

I reckon ZE should implement Gameknot rule...in GK they advance a leading player to next round after a specific number of days.. They calculate the winner through computer/calculations... active game does not end and players can finish their games

Agreed

Sometimes I wonder why they bother to enter at all. I have two ideas: only allow participation in one tournament of each type at any time - which might focus some of the slower players who don't bother moving in games in tournaments where they have little chance of going further, and allow the tournaments to progress to the next round when only meaningless games remain that can have no bearing on who qualifies. I think the latter might be similar to that GK rule.

Ditto

I agree with what has been said. Zooescape must take measures against players who are deliberately holding up games.

As for unofficial tournaments, the same situation can also arise - particularly with players who are overrated.

In the latter case, rules can be made or adjusted to punish the individuals concerned but in the former case, Zooescape must be convinced to change their policy.

How does one gain entry to these tourneys?

about Martso....

I played martso in the 2nd knockout tournament....in my oppinion he was holdind the game, interrupting it when he was in disadvantage....and, in any case, he had an unsportsmanlike attitude by winning the games and waiting for me to challenge him.

I disagree with you David Cool

Tournaments are set to 3 days per move so if someone wants to take 2 days 23 hours and 59 minutes per move that's up to them. It's within the rules so they have done nothing wrong. As a paying member you can enter as many tournaments as you want and play virtually as many games as you want so I can't understand why you're complaining. There's plenty more games to be getting on with. How can you seriously be asking players to be banned when they have not broken any rules!?! Surely it's a rule change you need to be asking for if you want to speed up tournaments. E.g. Less time per move or moving onto the next round as soon as the group winners are determined even if there are games remaining.

Leave Cuisineworks alone - s/he can take as much time as s/he wants without running down the clock. Get on with your other games and stop complaining... That is just not cool.

Skinhead

Hello Skinhead,

it is the rule, but there is also something what is called fairness. when just 1 to 3 persons out of over 200 or even 300 are playing that slow, these persons still does play inside of the rules, but these persons are not fair the others, which is really not cool. I agree that each player is playing with a different speed, but everyone should try to get to the average speed of the group or the players in the tournament and not hold up everyone else. Out of fairness to others players these persons should not participate in tournaments. That is something which should apply to all the live. Just looking out only for you, is by far not cool. Also you are obligation players that surely would never play against you twice, to play with them at least 3 times. Not everything which is by rule is also fair.

I'm with Skinhead on this one

Hello David,

Seriously how can you ban someone because they play Backgammon less often than yourself? It is completely fair if someone wants to play every 2 or 3 days or maybe they go on holiday and don't play at all for 2 weeks. They are playing within the rules (which is clearly fair) and will forfeit the game, if, and only if, they run out of time. What is unfair, however, is to complain about, and name, players in this forum just because they choose to play less often than yourself.

I fail to understand what the problem is. There are plenty more games and tournaments to be playing. Have some patience, the tournament will continue in due course.

Do/ say something constructive - you should be asking for a rule change if you want to speed up tournaments.
