Backgammon for your country I would like to suggest two types of tournaments--one for now and one later. Paying members can be only be captains and form or recruit 5 others from your own country to form a 6 player team to play against other countries. Team names would include the country name. For example Canada Dreamworks USA Raiders Germany Rhinos British Pounds France Legions Canada Geese Begium Chocolate Etc etc. More details to follow if there is interest. Please let me know and Zoo can decide. Suggest default of 2 days per move to speed things up and every two months with tourneys to start--say every 20th of the month to not conflict with the regular tourneys. With 6 players per team playing 3 games with the other country players there would be 18 games per player and 108 total games with scores posted such as 68-40. It could be a lot of fun. A Country Standings page would display 7 columns TP(Tourneys Played) Wins-Losses-Ties PF(PointsFor) PA(Points Against) Points(2 for team win and 1 for tie match) Teams can join anytime and must play every team sooner or later. More details if there is interest and can be reviesd or adjusted. Any interest? |

Country tournaments Only if we can form regional alliances, as I have never seen another person from Singapore on this site. Although can't remember any ASEAN folks either...maybe there was a Kiwi once.... |

Regional Alliances would be great For some groups regional alliances would be necessary as idea is to have participation and team play so that's fine in my opinion. As far as necessary for 6 players and then you have to agree on a name representing a country. |

Goes with being able to create your own teams You can name your own team for a Country, Region, or something else. you can have as many players as you like. Basically replicating gameknot functionality. The obvious challenge is the lack of players, and lack of paying subscribers that pay for the developer's investment |

from Brazil... Sounds interesting, though unfortunately I don't know if there are enough players from Brazil on this site (I know only one, but who apparently quit...). But well, yeah, if regional alliances were made, then it sounds good... we'll probably have to treat the whole south america as a single region, but that would be ok. I'm not sure I like the "default of 2 days per move to speed things up" part, though - I wouldn't participate because some weekends I can't play... In my opinion, a default of 3 dpm would be better, and also consistent with the rest of the site's default anyway. |

Sounds fun but.. I wouldn't know what country or region to put myself in.... I live in Wales, born in USA with Polish grandparents, love Italy so whoever would want me hehe. One of the best things about this site is getting to know people from all over the world though different time zones can make it all too tempting to play late into the night! |

hehe --nice capricorn The idea is for fun --so you could play for any country that needs another player to make a full team as far as I can see. |

Hey Capricorn17 I was born in the USA with Polish grandparents (one set, anyway), and I love Italy too! Just spent three weeks in Tuscany and Lazio this summer.... But have yet to get to Wales--had a Welsh roommate in Japan for awhile though. So, we're nearly related! |
