It is NOT backgammon without the cube. It's like playing poker with no betting, and keeping score by who won the most hands. Idiotic.

I agree with you 100%. The cube is essential to the game. ZE has implemented it and it works great. It speeds up games considerably that would otherwise have to be drawn out when the outcome is obvious and it also eliminates a little of the luck involved so that ratings actually mean something. The catch? Only subscribers can start games with the cube. You also get to play a ton of games at once. Give it a shot!

Even if you don't want to subscribe (which is understandable, since you joined not so long ago), you can still play cube games if you convince a subscriber to challenge you and start a cube game.

Try to find a subscriber who is about your rating and ask him to start a cube game against you

I got my year membership for $7 and change. That is pretty much free in my book; but I play a fair amount.

Gentlemen.
I'll be more than happy if someone could please explain, how come is backgammon considered to be by you, only luck - when playing with out the cube.
In my opinion, there is a lot of human brain interference involved, during most games.
The way we take risks, the way we calculate the chances or probabilities that may occur in the coming moves of the game, and over all the simple way to exploit the choices in our favor, makes it a game that is very dependent on our thinking and decisions.
Any arguments?

sorry but you clearly don't understand what people said before on this forum post. sure the game depend on our decision, but at the endgame phase of the game its over, its only about luck, and to accept a cube when there is like 15% chance to win is crazy when there is some money on the game. The cube eliminate theses games where you kill your enemy by 3 random dual 6 when your opponent owned you all the game. Sure you can always Accept the cube, but clearly when its offered and you are about sure to loose, you dont, and the game ends only by the lucky rolls along the game, and the clever moves you ve made.
